White House

Well worth the diversions
Civil and military monument
The Michelin Guide's review
Since 1801 the White House has been the home of America's serving president and family. More than just a residence, this governmental building has become an internationally recognised symbol of the US presidency. Only the ground floor and first floor of this three-storey, Georgian-style stone building are open to visitors. Many paintings by great American painters decorate the halls (including Hassam, Singer Sargent, Whistler and Stuart).
