The Michelin Guide's review
Lying to the north of the Lofoten islands, the Vesterålen archipelago has its fair share of spectactular landscapes, while remaining off the tourist trail. Made up of three main islands, as well as the eastern part of Hinnøya, the Vesterålen boasts fjords, charming villages, and an outdoor sports enthusiast's paradise. Acting as a stunning lookout for sighting the midnight sun and aurora borealis, the islands' major attraction remains without a doubt boat trips to see the whales.
