The Michelin Guide's review
This museum is home to the leading collection of folk art of Switzerland. Naïve paintings of peasant life in Appenzell rub shoulders with remarkable 19C painted coats of arms and three wooden panels (16C) whose lovely naïve drawings come from nearby Gais. On the ground-floor, an alpine cheese maker, complete with traditional objects, has been reconstructed. In the basement, demonstrations of weaving and embroidery (lovely Jacquard fabrics) can be seen.
