The Michelin Guide's review
Inhabited since the 6C, the period of the Dvaravati, Si Thep developed into an important economic centre under the Khmer Empire until the end of the 13C. A stone bridge decorated with naga heads leads to the city. Approximately 2km beyond the entrance, the royal avenue extends in front of you as far as the Prang Si Thep, an 11C temple built on a square base. Admire the remarkable sandstone sculpted lintel of the prang to the right, as well as the astonishing stucco characters running along the east wall, dating from the Dvaravati period.
