This pass, which marks the climatic frontier between the northern and southern alps, lies at the intersection between the cool valleys of the Vercors and the southern arid Die basin. The Roche-Courbe escarpments can be seen in the distance, while the hairpin bends of the roads, to be taken carefully, accentuate the impression of depth. Rousset Pass is the main departure point for hikes into the Hauts Plateaux nature reserve.
