The El Castillo cave was painted in the late Palaeolithic period (between 30 000 BC and 10 000 BC). The numerous figures depicted (simple contours, some unfinished - 750 have been counted in total) are dispersed and many are difficult to access. To this day many remain shrouded in mystery. The Las Monedas cave is mainly characterised by its geological formations.
