The Michelin Guide's review
This private road, lined in trees, gardens and artists' workshops, is named after Marie Vassilleff, who founded and ran an artists' canteen here from 1915-18 that was frequented by artists such as Picasso, Matisse, Braque, Chagall and Modigliani. The villa is home to the Bétonsalon centre for art and research. A permanent gallery is devoted to Frans Krajcberg (d. 2017), a Brazilian sculptor of Polish origin, who campaigned for the protection of the Amazon.
