Thanks to strong trade winds and consistent surf, Maui is nirvana for windsurfers, and Hookipa is the real deal. It's the most-photographed windsurfing site on the planet. Powerful rip currents, exposed reefs and snaggle-toothed lava rock make this one the perfect match for more experienced sailors (get the hang of it at Kanaha Beach Park or Sprecklesville Beach first). There are numerous places on the island to rent equipment. If you'd rather just soak up the scene, this is a peachy spot.
