The Michelin Guide's review
For a long time off the beaten track as it was protected by a maze of barely navigable canyons, Rainbow Bridge was declared a national monument in 1910. It is a sacred site for five native American Indian tribes, a factor to be taken into account when visiting it. The majestic stone arch carved out of the sandstone by the Bridge Creek river is hidden at the end of a narrow gorge. Once on dry land, a path (5min) leads to the bridge, where you can admire the impressive scale of this 288ft-high construction.
