Ötztal
Michelin Guide
Well worth the diversions
Natural site
The Michelin Guide's review
The Ötztal, a tributary of the Inn, runs through a deep valley, past forbidding defiles dominated by conifers and on to green fertile basins. The Ötztal Alps (Ötztaler Alpen) boast the northern Tyrol's highest point at Wildspitze (3 774m). Other notable landmarks include Austria's highest parish (Obergurgl 1 930m), the highest farm of Austria inhabited all year round (at Rofen, near Vent, 2 014m) and one of its prettiest waterfalls, the Stuibenfall!
