The Michelin Guide's review
The Orthodox church of St George has a unique pavement, discovered during its construction in 1896 on the site of a Byzantine basilica. This mosaic, which originally covered a space of around 15m by 5m, was made up of over 2 million tesserae. Although damaged, the surviving section depicting a map of the Holy Land is a remarkable document that allows us to better understand 6C Middle Eastern topography, thanks to its representation of more than a hundred cities.
