Well worth the diversions
Civil and military monument
The Michelin Guide's review
The market square in the Middle Ages, the Grand'Place has always been a hub of activity in Lille. At the entrance, on the right, the Théâtre du Nord is housed in the Grand'Garde (1717) and in the next building, the daily newspaper La Voix du Nord. In the centre, the Goddess on her column symbolises the city's heroic resistance during the 1792 siege. Opposite the Vieille Bourse (1653) is Le Furet du Nord, one of the largest bookshops in Europe.
