Island of Tavolara
Michelin Guide
Well worth the diversions
Natural site
The Michelin Guide's review
Like a bastion rising out of the waves, the island of Tavolara is the southernmost sentinel of the Golfo di Olbia. 1km/0;6mi long and 6km/3.7mi wide, the mountainous peninsula of Spalmatore di Fuori closes it to the north, while to the west lies a small marina and pretty beach. Even though it is overrun with tourists every summer, you need have no fear. Protected by a marine park, the island remains a botanic sanctuary and organizes underwater excursions amid sea bass and coral.
