Created in 1799, this medieval palace is one of the oldest museums in France, with 137 000 works of art (painting, sculpture, furniture, table arts, weapons and drawings). The hanging and presentation of 2 300 to 2 500 pieces are regularly renewed. To showcase the collection and reveal more of it, the Museum of Fine Arts is finishing its refurbishment and increasing its exhibition area (from 3 500 to 5 200m2). Work should be completed in autumn 2019.
