The Michelin Guide's review
After visiting Derrynane House, make a beeline for Derrynane Harbour, a premium wind-surfing spot. Walk down onto the beach (to the left of the car park) and along as far as Abbey Island, accessible at low tide. In the middle of a seamen's cemetery overrun by long grass, the romantic ruins of a former abbey, possibly founded by Saint Finan, dominate this magical countryside and one of the country's most beautiful beaches.
