The Michelin Guide's review
From the area around Da Nang, home to the first capital of the Champa kingdom, to the region of Phan Thiet, where it was based until the 17C, the narrow coastal plain is dotted with towers erected by the Chams along the modern 1A highway, the spine of the country and a route that was used by them as they expanded their territory and later withdrew southwards. These remains bear witness to the grandeur of their kingdom and their art, which is best expressed through their religion.
