The Michelin Guide's review
This remarkable archaeological site dating back to the 1C AD is one of the most important of its kind in Andalusia. More than 300 tombs, mausoleums and crematory ovens occupy the vaulted funerary rooms, where the niches used to receive the urns of ashes. The most surprising of all is the Tomb of the Elephant that has three dining rooms and a kitchen. The Tomb of Servilia, in the rock, is like a patrician dwelling. Note the colombarium and a vast circular mausoleum.
