Religious monument
The Michelin Guide's review
A veritable monastic village, built in an austere site at an altitude of 1 027m and made up of some twenty maisonettes (13C-17C) surrounded by a wall, the Hermitage is preceded by a few buildings that are open to the public. In the interior courtyard, to the right, stands the lovely 18C church. Within the Neapolitan Baroque-style interior are, most notably, two magnificent marble tabernacles by Desiderio da Settignano (15C) preserved on either side of the apse. Opposite the church, you can visit the tiny garden and the cell of St Romuald.
