Lake Winnipesaukee
Michelin Guide
Well worth the diversions
Natural site
The Michelin Guide's review
Lake Winnipesaukee overflows with superlatives. At 115 km2/44mi2, it is New Hampshire's 2nd largest lake; with nearly 480km/298mi of shore and peppered with over 250 islets. To appreciate the scope of this giant of nature, it must be viewed from the surrounding summits. After that, hop on the M/S Mt Washington to cruise the calm waters lined by little coves. The peace and quiet is only broken during the summer when the riverside villages are busy with tourists.
