Zvíkov Castle, which stretches along a rocky outcrop overlooking the confluence of the Vltava and the Otava, has retained much of its atmosphere from its glorious medieval period. Protected by the Písek Gate and a lofty defensive tower with a conical roof, it boasts some delightful architectural features, such as the inner arcaded courtyard.
