The Michelin Guide's review
Designed as a park where it is pleasant to stroll, this memorial inaugurated in 2004 commemorates the 16 million Americans who served in the Second World War. Two arched pavilions composed of commemorative columns evoke the USA's theatres of operation: the Atlantic and the Pacific. On the west side of the memorial, the Freedom Wall bears 4 048 golden stars - one for every 100 Americans who died during the conflict.
