This old Roman forum is now a pretty, colourful square with an attractive market. Soak up the ambiance of the town under the watchful eye of the winged lion, the emblem of Venice, which stands on top of the San Marco column (1523). In the centre of the square stands the 16C capitello or tribuna (a rostrum from where decrees and sentences were proclaimed), with the Madonna Verona fountain, a monument much loved by the inhabitants of the city, next to it.
