The Michelin Guide's review
Marketers have lost no time pointing out that evasion is an anagram of Vanoise, whose 50,000ha/123,500 acres have become indissociable with France's first national park created in 1963, that stretches from the Isère valleys in the north to the Arc in the south. It is paradise for hikers, skiers and climbers with 107 peaks over 3,000m/9,842ft, 8ha/20 acres of glaciers, stunning mountain landscapes over 1000 species of flowers, some rare, and herds of ibex, chamois and marmots.
