The Michelin Guide's review
The remarkably preserved residence of Carl von Linné (1707-1778), who initiated our system of plant classification, is now a museum displaying his personal effects and adjoining his botanical garden home to 1 600 plant species. Here, annual plants and perennials are divided into 44 beds according to the system devised by the scientist. In 1741, he persuaded the university to extend the garden and build the orangery, which was designed by Carl Hårleman.
