Occupying the former post office, this museum presents Norwegian art since the 19C by theme: landscapes, histories and people of the North, through works by d'Adolph Tidemand, as well as Otto Sinding and Peder Balke. The 20C is represented by Edvard Munch, Anna-Eva Bergman; contemporary artists are also shown. The 2017 refurbishment doubled the space dedicated to the extensive permanent collections, and the museum continues to organise fascinating temporary exhibitions.
