The Michelin Guide's review
Emulating the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, this rotunda built in the 12C is a two-storey octagonal construction supported by eight pillars; a ring-vaulted ambulatory separates this octagon from the sixteen-sided outer polygon; the paintings that adorn the octagon are the work of the best Portuguese artists of the 16C; a number of polychrome wooden statues date from the same period. The choir, built between 1510 and 1515 by the architect Diogo de Arruda, is notable for the exuberance of its Manueline decoration.
