Hadrian's Villa
Michelin Guide
Worth the trip
Historical and archaeological site
The Michelin Guide's review
With a perimeter of almost 5km, Hadrian's Villa, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, once included an Imperial palace, baths, libraries, theatres and extensive gardens dotted with works of art. This was without doubt the richest monumental complex in Ancient Rome, created by Emperor Hadrian who had criss-crossed much of the Roman Empire. Fascinated by art and architecture, the emperor was inspired by many of the art works and sites he had seen during his travels.
