A town of water, Tata had countless water mills of which the most recent was in operation up until 1968. Several mills can still be seen today, two of which are particularly worthy of mention: the ruins of Cifra Malom (Bartók Béla u. 3) and the well-restored Nepomucenus Malom (Alkotmány u. 2), now a museum devoted to the German minority, which is significant in Tata.
