House of Jan Długosz (Diocesan Museum)
Michelin Guide
Well worth the diversions
Museum
The Michelin Guide's review
This red-brick Gothic house behind the cathedral was built by Jan Długosz in 1476. The doors and windows facing north command a matchless view of the Vistula. Since 1937, it has been home to the Diocesan Museum. An 18C costumed nativity scene, wooden books whose pages are replaced by dried moss, superb porcelain and countless religious sculptures and paintings all ensure that this museum will interest even those who are not die-hard fans of sacred art.
