The Michelin Guide's review
In 1595, the former 11C bishop's palace was replaced by this sumptuous building, on the initiative of Wolf Dietrich. The northwest wing only dates from the late 18C. A young Mozart played numerous concerts before the court of the prince-bishop, here in the Conference Hall. Emperor Franz Joseph received Napoleon III here, then Wilhelm I. On the second floor in the state rooms, the Residenzgalerie showcases works by European masters from the 16C to the 19C.
