The Michelin Guide's review
Rocky peaks and waterfalls await you at the Parque Nacional da Tijuca, the world's largest urban forest, located in the heart of Rio. The Pico da Tijuca (1 012m) and Pedra da Gávea are among the loveliest walks, while the Vista Chinesa and Mesa do Imperador offer some of the finest panoramic views. Explore the dense Tijuca forest by bicycle, taxi, hire car or cog railway, fly over it on a hang-glider, or climb its cliffs, but it is advisable to enlist the services of a guide to avoid getting lost or a potentially dangerous incident.
