The Michelin Guide's review
Malta Square, seen in Milos Forman's film Amadeus, takes its name from the Knights of Malta, who built fortifications here. The order was also known as the Order of St John; a statue of the saint stands at the northern end of the square. Two large buildings catch the eye: Nostitz Palace (no 1) and its Baroque façade, home to the Ministry of Culture, and Turba Palace (no 6), with a Rococo façade, housing the Japanese Embassy.
