The Michelin Guide's review
Completed in 1893, the enclosed market was for a long time the main place for the inhabitants of the city to get supplies, until its decline in the 1970s. It regained its splendour and got back to work in 1993, when the Pennsylvania Convention Center (1001 Arch Street) was built, while preserving the historic food market premises. The Amish come here, except on Sundays, to sell their produce, including their renowned cheeses. It's a great place to take a lunch break and find gourmet souvenirs.
