The Segre flows between dark-coloured rocks (pozzolan) and green pastures. Upstream, the landscape changes: the river runs between the limestone mountains of Ares and Montsec de Tost; a typically Pyrenean view stretches as far as a small verdant and well-cultivated basin, where the river disappears.
