Château du Nideck and Waterfall
Michelin Guide
Well worth the diversions
Natural site
The Michelin Guide's review
In this romantic setting, accessible by a footpath, all that remains of the two châteaux that burned down in 1636 is a 13C tower and a 14C keep. Go up the tower for a lovely view over the forest, the Bruche valley, Guirbaden chateau and the heights of Champ du Feu. To the right of the keep you will discover the waterfall path, leading (on the left) to a gorgeous viewpoint that looks over the glacial valley and wooded chasm into which the Nideck waterfall comes gushing over a little porphyritic wall.
