The Michelin Guide's review
A bank is now housed behind the brilliant façade of the superlative Casa de Montejo, an extremely rare example of 16C civil architecture. In the lower section done in a refined Plateresque style, the family of theadelantado (governor) is shown in a frieze with fanciful animals. In the upper part, two halberdiers are perched on howling Mayan Indian heads, while two trained lions frame an inscription dating from 1549.
