As you leave the Los Angeles Times Building, you will notice a similar skyscraper on your right, the iconic City Hall, built in 1928 (closed to the public), higher and slenderer than the former. A symbol of city authority, for several decades it was protected by charter, preventing other high-rises from capping its distinctive outline.
