The Michelin Guide's review
The foundations of this law school were laid down in the 14C. The buildings date from the 16C. Inside the exterior walls South Square, which has been entirely rebuilt with the exception of No. 1 that dates from 1685, is decorated with a bronze statue of the philosopher Francis Bacon, the most illustrious member of Gray's Inn. The gardens which Samuel Pepys and Joseph Addison were charmed by, was one of the favourites walking areas of the people of London.
