The Michelin Guide's review
A miraculous survivor of the disaster of 1970, the archaeological museum of Ancash has a garden that is home to a wonderful collection of monoliths of Recuay and Huari cultures, characteristic of the callejón. The statues, between 0.80 and 1.50m high, depicting figures with crossed hands or warriors and the occasional big cat. Inside the museum, you will see steles, large human heads in relief (cabezas claves), examples of Recuay and Huari ceramics and a model of Chavín temple.
