This early Romanesque building begun around 1200 underwent numerous changes up until the 16C. The entire church is decorated with beautiful sculptures and statues, with no fewer than 418 stone statues from the late 13C adorning the doorway of the tower. Inside the building, note the remarkable altarpiece (1512-16) by H. B. Grien. From the top of the church tower there is a splendid view of Freiburg and its surrounding region.
