Step back in time by taking a 30min tram ride to this village, which was swallowed by the city of Frankfurt in 1928 and yet has retained its old centre with half-timbered houses built alongside the Main river. The old castle, the former residence of the bishops of Mayence (13C-16C), is accessible from the charming cobbled Höchster Schlossplatz, while the 16C Kronberg palace is home to a small porcelain museum. Meanwhile, the small park on the banks of the Main is the perfect spot for a picnic.
