The Michelin Guide's review
On 9 July 1918, during the Second Battle of the Marne, the 39th French Division and the Second American Division ousted the German forces: the Monument Américain de la Cote 204 has marked the site of that victory since 1933. It is composed of an imposing double colonnade on one side, and two large statues on the other, in an allegory of Franco-American friendship by sculptor Alfred Bottiau. An interpretative centre is located beneath the monument.
