The Michelin Guide's review
Running from Porthmadog on the coast to the "city of slate", the Ffestiniog Railway, built in 1836 to transport slate from the quarry to the port, is today a tourist attraction which passes through Snowdonia's stunning Vale of Ffestiniog, with its wooded landscapes, lakes and waterfalls.
