The Michelin Guide's review
Dropping from an altitude of 2 143m, the impressive, crescent-shaped Pearl Waterfall is the most photographed in Jiuzhaigou Park. Contrary to the impression it may give, its rock is not eroding, but, rather, it is growing, because the calcium carbonate retains the roots, leaves and branches to form a perpetually expanding plant/mineral cement. Plus, the water is far too pure and not deep enough to erode the rock. Excellent news!
