The Michelin Guide's review
The quarries were mined for over 150 years, from the first half of the 6C BC, and were subsequently abandoned, at the time of the destruction of Selinunte. The enormous blocks intended to be used for temples, which are dotted around, partially extracted, are an indication of the suddenness of the catastrophe. On the site, you will notice blocks that have been entirely extracted and others that have barely been cut. In the second area, you can see a rough capital.
